This exhibition starts with the story of ‘body’. Book curators from five countries have collected more than 130 art books on the subjects of ‘me’, ‘you’ and ‘them’. The first planning intention was to look at the multi-layered image of Asian women as a Western hitter in a book. Surprisingly, however, the five book curators scan their bodies with different eyes. This includes freedom of expression and the ultimate visual language, ranging from the body, the industrialized work body, and issues of identity such as race, gender, and feminism in Asian cultures. As the theme of this exhibition covers ‘body’, the power of physical properties of the book is also attractive. I encourage you to open your five senses, not just your eyes.

이 전시는 ‘몸’에 대한 이야기에서 출발한다. 5개국의 북큐레이터가 ‘나’와 ‘당신’ 그리고 ‘그들’의 ‘몸’을 주제로 130여권의 아트북을 모았다. 최초의 기획 의도는 ‘아시아’를 서양의 타자로서 ‘아시아 여성’의 다층적인 이미지를 책으로 솎아보자는 것이었다. 그러나 의외로 5명의 북큐레이터는 각자 다른 시선으로 ‘몸’을 훑는다. 여기에는 표현의 자유이자 궁극적인 시각언어로서 ‘몸’을 비롯해 산업화된 노동의 몸, 그리고 아시아 문화권에 속한 인종, 젠더, 페미니즘과 같은 정체성의 이슈까지 폭넓다. 이번 전시의 주제가 ‘몸’을 다루는 만큼 책이 갖춘 물성의 힘도 매력적이다. 눈으로만 볼 것이 아니라 오감을 열어볼 것을 권한다.

アジア5カ国のブックキュレータが‘私’と’あなた’、そして‘彼ら’の‘身体’をテーマに130冊余りのアートブックを選りすぐり、集めたこの展示は、あらゆる‘身体’について語りかけます。
この企画は西欧の他者として語られてきたアジアではなく、‘アジア女性’の多層的なイメージを本を通して引き出すことから出発しました。しかし、予想外にも5名のブックキュレータは各自異なる視線で‘身体’を追っています。表現の自由、もしくは究極の視覚言語として‘身体’をはじめ、産業化された労働の身体、そしてアジア文化圏に属する人種、ジェンダーフェミニズムなど、アイデンティティに関するイシューまで幅広いものになっています。‘身体’はテーマとしてのみならず、本が持つ物性の魅力をみせる力でもあります。目で見るだけではなく五感を開く観賞をお楽しみください。
